In this study we will address adultery and generalize all other types of sins. There has been a couple of people who have asked, “Can God forgive adultery? The short answer is YES! God can forgive all sins. Just think of the worse of the worse of all the sins of mankind and God can forgive all sins, even adultery. But there is one sin He will never forgive nor can be forgiven, and that is the unpardonable sin: the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit
Mathew 12:31-32 And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
And that’s how Jesus Christ defines what the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is, “anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit.” So all sin can be forgiven by God Almighty the Father through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, revealed by His Holy Spirit except, for the unpardonable sin; the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Adultery is as The Lord Jesus taught in
Matthew 5:27-30 You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery (the act thereof). But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Jesus is teaching here, everything that causes you to sin, cut it away from your life, because there are consequences
The Consequences of Adultery And All Other Sins
Just because you are truly forgiven by God Almighty, as you come to Him and confession is made to Him as you turn away from adultery and other sins and you forgive yourself. Doesn’t mean you are delivered from the repercussions of that sin or sins. As the saying goes “Every action has a consequence.”
Now the forgiveness of sins means that you are spiritually forgiven. He has wiped your slate clean. He has remembered your sins no more and God has promised eternal salvation for those who turn away from sinning.
But there is a physical, emotional and a mental payment attached to every sin such as: broken marriages, which leads to broken homes and families. Also the battle of fornication or other sexual immorality, that one will battle between the fleshes will and the Spirits will.
And what goes with that battle is the feeling of guilt, feelings and thoughts of uncleanness and unworthiness, which can lead to depression. Defeat which can then lead to backsliding in a believers life. The loss of faith, which then leads to the loss of Salvation. So in short, it really isn’t worth a moment of pleasure for a life time of hell.
We must keep in mind that without faith you cannot be saved nor can you please God the Father. This is why the devil attacks our faith through temptations, to shipwreck our faith through sins. Also we must keep in mind that all sins will be exposed, especially adultery. Marriage is a Holy Matrimony, ordained by God between a man and a woman that should never be broken, taken lightly, nor corrupted.
Further more it is the light of Jesus Christ that reveals hidden darkness. It is for our own spiritual good that He does this. He is The Holy God and He cannot fellowship with darkness. He will not allow evil to remain in His children for relationship sake between His children and Himself, as it is written:
John 3:19-21 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of Light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and will not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
The Apostle Paul had taught that the battles that we all will face is the temptations of sins, found in:
Romans 7:14-24 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do (sin). and if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sin nature.
For I have the desire to do what is good, but cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do, this I keep doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: when I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law, but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man that I am!
But if we abide in Jesus Christ we can have the victory over all sins, the schemes and the fiery darts of the evil one, as the Apostle Paul concludes: Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
For it is the sin nature we will all battle till our dying day. And all sins knowingly wrong yet committed, are the vital signs of spiritual weakness. So how do we become strong against temptations of sinning?
#1). Abiding in Jesus Christ. Reading His word faithfully
John 1:1-2 & 14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
#2). Pray faithfully
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
#3). Going to a Holy Spirit filled, full Bible preaching, believing and living church. We do these things to be strengthened. We sin because of weakness, of ignorance of God’s word, and because we do not keep our flesh under the subjection of the Holy Spirit. Lets put this in perspective: in order to sin you have to walk according to the flesh to sin. For sin is in the flesh and requires the flesh or self desire to sin.
How Does Sin Work?
#1). Sin seeks opportunity and it deceives
Romans 7:11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death.
#2). Sin separates man from God
Isaiah 59:1-3 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity.
And in the New Testament, Ephesians 4:17-19 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.
#4). Sin brings forth death
James 1:13-15When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when by His own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then after desire has conceived, it give birth to sin; and sin, when sin is full-grown, gives birth to death.
You see, temptation starts at a thought. Sin then conceives in the heart. After that, sin is put into action which brings forth spiritual death, separation from God. Therefore sin is sin by action not by temptation.
Take for another example, the devil and Eve. The devil asked Eve some questions for her to ponder on, to take thought. So thought can then conceive into action and from action, to spiritual death (Genesis 3). And since sin separates us from God, this is why the Holy Bible teaches us explicitly to take no thought in the first place. And if we do, take every thought captive
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ
How Can A Believer And Follower of Jesus Christ Be Forgiven?
As a reminder: The only One who can save us all from the power of sin and death is Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Romans 7:24-25 Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Jesus Christ was beaten and bruised. He bled and died for the remission of all our sins, transgressions and iniquities. And rose from the dead on the 3rd day to give us eternal life and everlasting hope. And He is the way of escape from the judgment of Hell. No other has ever done that for all humanity, and no one ever will not even a counterfeit.
So the first step is to acknowledge Jesus Christ is Lord, your Deliverer, your Provider and your Savior for those who believe. The next step: you must be convinced what the Word of God promised you can have, YOU CAN HAVE IT! Being convince that God cannot lie. The third step is to confess your sins unto God,
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to purify us from all unrighteousness.
For if you do not believe the Word of God, than this step is in fact in vain according to:
James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
And lastly, turn away from adultery and other sins and turn to the Living God. He is the God of second chances. We will always battle the will of the flesh and of the devil, through the rest of our days on earth. And the only way the devil can have have victory over a Christian, is if we allow it to happen. Take no evil tempting thought. Put every thought down into obedience to Jesus Christ. This will take a lot of endurance, discipline and training
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it (that is salvation). And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
Philippians 3:7-14 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
How Can One Be Delivered From Adultery And All Other Sins?
Confession, repentance, lots of prayer, seeking God’s delivering power and denying the fleshes will.
James 4:4-10 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely? But He gives us more grace.
That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.
When we do our part, God Almighty will do His and we will have the victory over all sins and death. As Jesse Duplantis had mentioned a time or two in his sermons, that one of his friends came to him and told him that he needs deliverance from adultery. Jesse told him, ” Tell your wife, and she’ll deliver you.” God Almighty, still LOVES you. The Lord Jesus still Loves you. The Holy Spirit still LOVES you, though grieved, He still loves you as it is written:
Romans 8:34-40 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, Who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But if you persist in adultery or other types of sins that is detestable in the Lord God Almighty’s sight at any degree, than there is judgment that will come. Either in this life or in the eternal life to come. And you never know when the Lord will call your life into accountability. We are here today and gone tomorrow, and if you are not right with the Lord and He suddenly calls your life into account, than you will miss Heaven.
So is there any hope? Yes! Check out: Is There Hope God bless you, your family and your friends.
Praise the Lord! That’s what this ministry is about. We all need to be reminded: ‘apart from Jesus Christ and being born again, no one can be saved (John 3). Apart from God’s Holy Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, no one can stay saved. (Romans chapters 3-8). Also it’s a sure thing that if you are being convicted and reminded by God that what your doing is wrong and need to turn from those wrong not just intellectually, but also spiritually, it’s a sure thing that you are His child (Hebrews 12:3-11). It’s when convictions, chastisements no longer occur while still in a sin the Lord has been dealing with. it’s a sure bet that He delivered us over to that sins and that’s the danger zone (Romans 1:18-32). I will also pray with you.

Hi There. Im a spirit filled Christian & love God dearly but have recently committed adultery. I was caught out by lust. As soon as the act of adultery had finished I had so much guilt, remorse & anger at my fleshly weakness for even considering to commit the act. I really fear that God will not forgive me for this sin as I should know better because I have the spirit dwelling within me & have been in Christ for a while. Is it possible for me to get total forgiveness from God for what I have done. I know the Lord says without spot or blemish………so I worry now that I am marked forever because of what Ive done & so will end up in the lake of fire. All I want to do from this very moment on is to praise our wonderful saviour as this has taught me a hard lesson. I really fear God & am so scared of the possible outcome of my stupid fleshly actions. I need reassurance that I can continue on in the Lord without God hanging this on my head because I haven’t addressed it the way God commands. Does he forgive Adultery & what is the process. I have totally confessed this to the lord in prayer but do you have to confess this to the church or church leaders as I fear if I don’t that that may be going against the will of God also. Will I be sinning if I don’t confess this to my wife. Thanks

The answer is yes the Lord can and will forgive you, even as you know better.
1 John 2:1-2 “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
Hebrews 4:14-16 “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
BUT…there is a price for sin and discipline is part of the price( Hebrews 12:4-12). All sins will be exposed as it is part of another price if not dealt with (John 3:19-20). God our heavenly Father knows the heart whether we are sincere in repentance meaning to literally: Change our minds, run away from all types and shadows of sins, put down those sins that easily snares us and run back to God our Father through the Lord Jesus Christ, empowered by God the Holy Spirit or not. And the reason for God exposing of sins, is to deliver us from those sins. Jesus Christ warned us (His disciples):
John 8:34-36 “Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
But God our Father will not listen to confessions unless your intention is to change your mind, condemn sin in the flesh and run back to God (real repentance)
2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
His appearance is near soon enough. He will Take His glorious church out of this earth before the tribulation period comes when He will judge all Humanity for sins and rejection (Matthew 24:29-31). And He want’s His true church to be ready for that day (Mark 13) Because those who are not ready, or those who reject Jesus Christ or those who reject and denounce holy living as God commanded us to live by His standards or those who do not desire God will not go:
Matthew 24:36-51 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
I say this with great weeping and tears for this “church age” in America today: In this day and hour God is not playing games and we shouldn’t be either. We don’t know the day or hour when The Lord Jesus will come or to suddenly call our life to account (Luke 12:16-21/Hebrews 4:11-13). But He is calling us to live ready always and to finish our race in Jesus Christ strongly and gloriously in Him. The Lord has been so gracious, more than we deserve and He has revealed to His children what must we do as children of God to stay strong in the Him and stay strong against all oppositions, temptations and sins. How do we do this/ The first steps are:
*Read and study the Word of God daily/abiding in Jesus Christ: The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word manifested in flesh (John 1:1-14 & John 15:1-5)
Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”
Children of God are only washed in the blood of Jesus Christ once. But it will take many washings from the Word of God in order to get those deep stains of sin out of our lives completely (Ephesians 5:25-27)
*Pray daily: To have communion/fellowship with God (Matthew 26:41). Also fasting is a great way to learn how to deny the flesh, pick up our cross and follow the Lord. The physical is more connected to the spiritual than we think. Why do you think Jesus Christ used earthly examples to explain the holy spiritual realm??? (John 3)
*Faithful in going to a Full Gospel, Holy Spirit filled, holiness church (Hebrews 10:19-25)
Then adding wisdom and understanding to our experiences. We must understand how sin works so we can recognize and be ahead of the curve to kill those desires contrary God (1 John 2-3:3) All sins come from 2 sources:
1). Desires of the flesh
> (Genesis 3)
2). Temptations of satan
James 1:12-15 “Blessed (inner completeness; happiness; complete joy in the Lord) is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”
Temptation is not sin. It’s the yielding to temptations is sin. When we think on, meditate on sin, it conceives into our heart and will give birth to action which brings forth spiritual death. But the way of escape of all temptations is setting your mind not on the thing of this earth, the lusts, the pleasures of this sinful fallen world, but keeping your eyes on Jesus Christ. (Colossians 3:1-10) Take no thought of sinful lusts of the flesh because that is where the battle begins, the mind (Romans 8 especially 8:3-8). If we walk according to the Holy Spirit than we will not allow the flesh to be gratified by it’s desire to sin against God (Galatians 5:16-17). Sin requires the flesh and if we learn to live in the guidance and in the Spirit of God, than we will not sin against God. That’s why we must do what this Word says in order to walk in the Spirit and we will not gratify the desires of the flesh. But again, here is the Warning to all “children of God” if we continue to sin against God deliberately, He will blot our names from the Book of Life forever:
Hebrew 10:26-31 “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Also if we continue willfully to sin against God, the Holy spirit will eventually take His flight and never return as it has been warned not to the world, but specifically to born again children of God because the book of Romans was a letter written by God the Holy Spirit through the Apostles Paul to the church in Rome in:
Roman 1:18-32 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”
In this passage of Holy Scripture, it shows us the clear evidence that if we continue to sin against God, He will eventually excommunicate us from Him (The Holy Spirit taking flight) as the Scripture says. “God gave them over”, “God gave them up” Because if sin is what we desire above God then He will completely deliver us over to it. That’s why The Lord Jesus gave this holy command to all His children including an adulteress woman caught in the act of adultery, whom Jesus Christ justified freely:
John 8:11 “go and sin no more”
And I’m glad you have reached out, friend. This is your divine appointment. I’m here to encourage you with the FULL truth of God’s Word that you can live holy and righteously in Jesus Christ, powerfully and successfully. We are supposed to be more than conquerors. But you have to make up your mind. You cannot be stuck in 2 opinions, friend. There are only 2 roads to choose here. The narrow road that leads to eternal life or the broad road that most people travel that leads to death, Hell and the grave (Matthew 7:13-14). And that’s why He gave us His Holy Spirit, to empower us to live Holy and righteously successfully by God’s standards. You see Jesus Christ didn’t set His church (the body of Christ up for failure, revealing and commanding us to live by His higher standard that would be impossible to live by) No! It’s more than possible, we just have to realize that simple truth and walk by the guidance of God the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus Christ still loves you! Right now you are far from Him to see it and to sense that truth. As it is promised today to you thus says the Lord Jesus Christ:
James 4:7-10 “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Thanks for the words of encouragement through Gods mighty scriptures. The thing is I do only want to walk down the road which is narrow & leads to eternal life. My issue or worry is Ive sinned while in Christ & Christ in me through the spirit. The word of God says “Sin no more” when you become saved. I feel I have let the lord down big time through my weakness of this sin Ive committed. I know his son suffered the ultimate sacrifice so we could have life………& because of his death we have forgiveness of sins. The thing is though his son only died once………not 2, 50, 400 times for our sins & so it concerns me where I stand in the lords eyes on his return. I will keep praying, reading the word & drawing near to God before he returns & can only hope the lord forgives me for the horrible deed I did. As it says above from Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness & unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. So I really feel because Ive tripped in my walk that that now is accounted to me as ungodliness & unrighteousness which as it says above “the wrath of God will reveal this”. Yes Im more than willing to turn from ALL sin from this very day forward as I know the lord wants us walking with him but do worry whether my sin will be forgiven. Could you point out some scriptures where God says he will forgive us if we sin while walking in him.

Also just re-read above the scripture you added :
Hebrew 10:26-31 “For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
So……….Ive sinned after receiving the knowledge of the truth………………..how much worse punishment, of you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God under foot…………insulted the Spirit of grace.
This I feel condemns those like myself who have sinned while having the Lord in their lives. Is that what that means? So where do I stand? Sorry for all the questions but I wish to get peace on this matter & to just know that the lord is a forgiving God even though we do muck up. Thanking you.

The key phrase here is : if we willfully (continually, deliberately) sin against God. This shows us that we cannot confess one day and sin the next hour intentionally. This shows us that we cannot go on living like the devil and expect to enter Heaven at the end of the day. This passage of Scripture is not intended to condemn but to warn us if we continue to sin against God willfully on and on and on, there is consequences. God’s intention also is to encourage us that we can live successfully by God’s standards since we know the boundary lines through the life of the Holy Spirit living in born again child of God.
You see the Christian walk is like a baby learning to walk. Though that baby stumbles and falls. Sometime the parent picks up the child, or sometimes that child picks up himself and starts learning how to walk so the child will not fall again. Same with us, holiness is not natural to us, but the sin nature is. We, through the Word of God must learn how to walk and it’s a process. It’s a life long journey. It’s not a crawl nor a sprint. And we need to be reminded of this. But through this experience, you will understand what sin does. If you allow it, sin will destroy your faith in Jesus Christ and faith in His Word, the promises of God. And that’s what the devil is trying to do, steal your Salvation. By making you believe that you cannot be forgiven, when the Word of God tells us otherwise.

In the last reply, the opening Scriptures shows us that The Lord forgives us of our stumbling: 1 John 2:1 “I write these things ( the epistle of 1 John), so that you may not sin against God. (Here’s the answer to your question) And if anyone sins ( anyone, wouldn’t that include you. This not only includes sinners but also children of God who has stumbles.) And if any one sins, we, (the children of God) have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. and He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for our only but also for the whole world.”
Hebrews 4 :14-16 “seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. (Here’s another point) for we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weakness, ( you see, we serve the one and only God who understands what we go through, knows the intention of the heart through experience. The only difference is, Jesus Christ did not yield to the temptations that causes sin) So He understands. That’s why He gave us a way of an escape. And your very right, He only died once and for all, but that doesn’t mean He only gives one chance. Or do you really know He is merciful. The relationship He calls all to have with Him is not a Master and servant relationship, but Father and Son relationship. Does not a father disciplines his child when he does wrong? And why do expect evil from God.

I need help. I was doing good in my life with the Lord, but the devil tempted me and every time he does I backslide. Can you help me be closer to the Lord?

Alot of Christians lack strength against temptations of the flesh’s will and of the devil because we fail the most basic instructions, commitment to God, staying on gaurd and live a disciplined life in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The Word of God promised “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:7-8)
So in order to be strong in the Lord we must make up our minds now to be faithful in the life Jesus Christ has given us through His blood and by God the Holy Spirit to the end. Then submit to God and draw near to Him. How do we do that?
1). Taking time daily to the reading and studying of God’s Holy Word at least 2 hours a day. Faith grows stronger through His Word coupled with experiances with God (Romans 10:17). And also we are further washed by the water of God’s Word (Ephesians 5:25-32).
2). Prayer at least an hour a day. Spending time with God speaking to Him and listening from God (John 10:27). “Casting yours cares upon the Lord for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5). Praying in the Holy Spirit (intercession prayer for others according to the perfect will of God in the Spirit, Jude 20).
Prayer and the Holy Bible go hand in hand. How can we pray effectively if we do not know the truth? How can we effectively pray the Holy Scriptures (standing upon His promises) if we dont know His Word? How can we know we are hearing from God if we dont know the Lord through His Word, the truth nor His perfect will? And if we neglect to pray for one hour, we will stray from the Lord (backslide) eventually.
This is one of the greatest lessons Jesus Christ taught His disciples (Matthew 26:40-41). His disciples failed to pray for one hour and they all strayed from the Lord and Peter denied Him until Jesus re-established a relationship with them again (John 21) when He arose from the dead on the 3rd day.
Also fast while praying and studying the Holy Bible putting away all things that will try to hinder you from drawing close to God, such as video games, reading books other than the Holy Bible, television as examples. Fasting will teach you how to subdue the flesh’s will while it edifies you Spiritually
3). Going to a Holy Spirit filled, living and active church every time the doors are open. Because the the Holy Spirit spoke through the Apostle Paul “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching (“the day approaching” is refering to the rapture of the church age).” (Hebrews 10:25)
You see, we are to live like the Lord Jesus has lived on this earth in the attitude of the heart, “not my will, but Your will O God be done.” this is truly drawing near to God, denying yourself picking up your cross and following the Lord (Galatians 5:16-17). So by doing this you will grow and be strong in the Lord and by the power of His might over time.
Along with all this, do not fail to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Proctecting your mind, your heart, and your walk with truth, the power of faith and the faithfulness of prayer in order to stand strong against all the wiles (the temptations) of the devil.
We must further more understand how sin and the devil works in order to recognize the hidden traps and snares he so craftly puts before us in order to seporate us from God. James 1:14-15 is telling us, what gets into our mind, will get into our hearts. When sin concieves in our hearts, it will give birth to action (sin) and sin brings forth spiritual death (shipwrecked faith/seporation from God, Isaiah 59:1-2) if we continue. The battle starts in the mind first. Thats why we need to protect our mind and renew our minds daily with the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2)
God the Holy Spirit has given power to born-again children of God to do the will of God. He has given us this new desire to live His way. To live a holy life in authority of Jesus Christ. Born-again children of God has power to go and sin no more through the Holy Spirit (John 8:11/Matthew 1:21). Therefore we dont have to do what the flesh wants to do, or do what the devil suggests. The devil cannot make a born-again Christian do anything, he can only suggest. It is up to us to submitt or resist the temptations. “Walk in the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful flesh.” And you can do this if your born-again and you submitt to God and draw near to Him (Colossians 3:1-5)
May the Lord our God grant you wisdom and understanding. May He teach you how to walk circumspectly before Him continually. May God the Holy Spirit give you power to live a Holy Life. And may the Lord open your eyes to see in the Spirit and the light of His Word all the days of your life in Lord Jesus name

Remember, we’re more than conquerors in Christ who stregnthens us. (Romans 8:37) which means litterally to overcome. To get controll of, defeat. And you can by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit. Not of ourselves or by our own stregnth.

Dear Brother Steve,
Thank you very much for your time writing this blog which could be a sermon itself. Praise the LORD. The discussion and scriptures have certainly given me confidence that, after my affair is exposed and tremendous break-down, I can live in Christ and resist the devil in the name of Christ.
To those who are in an affair, cut it off immediately because it will be exposed, and your spouse or yourself would be hurt extensively. Dun use your own reasoning but rely on the LORD and his Words.
God bless your serving to the LORD abundantly.
