Christianity is like the military, spiritually speaking. When sinners give their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ, we are no longer our own, for we are bought at a price in Jesus Christ’s blood (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Therefore we undergo spiritual training, corrections, and disciplines as a good soldier of the cross. Being molded and fashioned in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ, unified as one body of Christ for salvation and for spiritual warfare.

God has called us to be His soldiers to fight against spiritual darkness. To prayer, to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching people the truth from God’s Holy Word (The Holy Bible), which is spiritual warfare. This is why there are many holy Scriptures pertaining to this very reality. In this study we will focus on

2 Timothy 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

As soldiers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we need to take seriously the spiritual mission Jesus Christ has set before us as a military soldier would in the natural. Because just like military soldiers face a real enemy, so do we as Christians face a real enemy as well, satan, who has come to steal faith and hope, to kill and to destroy human souls to Hell.

Study Highlights:

0:58 Christians are called to be soldiers of the Lord. In order to fight the devil, we have to abide in Jesus Christ, having the anointing of God through the Spirit of God. Outside of Christ, one becomes weak and powerless against the devil and his forces of darkness.

4:03 Comparison of a physical military to the spiritual military of the Lord Jesus Christ

6:20 Once we are trained into our calling from the Lord (whether it be Pastoring, Teaching, ministering and Evangelizing the Gospel of Jesus Christ), He gives us orders and we are to carry out our orders from the Lord (our calling). And we are not to leave our post until the mission is completed in Jesus Christ our Lord

9:33 Keys in staying strong in the Lord and in the power of His might: Be on your guard, guard your walk against temptations. Watch and pray. Stay in the Word of God and you will not leave your post. For we are out of time to get lazy in the Spirit of God, or to get discouraged, or give up and leave our post when we don’t see results.

We need to stand in the gap, press into Jesus Christ and press on like we never had before, just like a good soldier would. We only have one chance and one life to bring as many as is possible to the Lord Jesus Christ before it is too late
