Acts chapters 12-13 serves as a reminder that signs, wonders and miracles are important to advance the kingdom of God on earth and should always be active in a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ today, and not just in the first Century church.

Signs: are the demonstration of the power of God both in blessings and judgment.

Wonders: are workings of God to draw people’s attention to the Gospel message of His only begotten Son (Lord Jesus Christ) as it causes us to wonder.

Miracles: are the proof of God’s existence by displaying His loving mercy and glory while doing the impossible for a people who do not deserve it. All in which is the Holy Spirit’s stamp and seal of approval, to testify unto all the world that Jesus Christ is the risen Savior, Messiah and Lord. And His Gospel message whom we preach, is fact and there is no other way to salvation, no other way into Heaven other than through the Lord Jesus Christ.

In order to be used by God just like in the days of the Book of Acts, we have to live according to God’s holy and righteous standards from His Holy Word to be effective. This is the proof that we truly know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior (1 John 2:3-6; 3:1-9). This is the proof of salvation we have in Jesus Christ. God is Holy and He has called His children to be holy, thus Sanctified according to Ephesians 5:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:17-18; 1 Thessalonians 4:7.

1 Corinthian 2:1-5 And I, brethren, when I came to you did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

I was with you in weakness, in fear and in much trembling. And my preaching was not by persuasive words of human wisdom, but in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Matthew 10:1;7-8 And when He (the Lord Jesus), has called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease(Lord Jesus commanded according to verse 5) ‘And as you (disciples) go, preach saying, ‘the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the leaper, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Study Highlights:

*04:59  Acts 12:21-23
Warning to all rulers of any nation; consequences for taking all the glory from God. God Almighty has no problem removing kings from the earth who are hell-bent, proud, arrogant and abominable who refuses to repent

*08:41  Acts 13:4
An important warning and reminder on being an effective witness of Jesus Christ. When a disciple is called to minister, He first prepares them. Gives them the fire, the power of the Holy Spirit. Then the Holy Spirit will send His disciples out. But first wait to receive the fire of the Holy Spirit as you seek the Lord for that fire.

*14:17  Acts 13:6-12
Importance of why we (Jesus Christ’s disciples) are to be full of the Holy Spirit in order to be effective salt of the earth and children of light. Exposing and subduing forces of darkness in the physical and spiritual realms, under the authority and subjection of our Lord Jesus Christ for the furtherance of His Gospel

*25:53  Acts 13:44-52
An encouraging reminder that no disciple of Jesus Christ are exempt from persecution. “a servant is not greater than his master” (John 15:19-21). But never forget, persecution is allowed by God to advance and spread His Gospel and His rewards are immeasurable, if, we do not lose heart
