We saw in our last study: Revelation 4:2-4 (In The Throne Room of The Most High God), that the 24 elders seated round about the throne of God Most High, were worshipping God all throughout the Book of Revelation.
In this message, we will be ministering about the importance of Worship. And what a better way to begin the new year, during prayer and fasting month, to worship in adoration, our God, Creator, and Lord.
Worshipping God Is Important
It is vitally important as born-again Christians to always give thanks to God with all our hearts!
Singing songs, hymns and spiritual songs unto the Lord for being God, for all His wonderful works, and the blessings He had graciously bestowed upon us all. This is one of many lessons we can learn from the 24 elders.
The Holy Bible also teaches about a warning a lot of us overlook, when we forsake, or forget God, or forget to give thanks to God with a real thankful heart of praise, worship and adoration; which is the first step to an apostate condition.
Roman 1:21-23 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
This is clearly showing us, in order to keep ourselves from apostasy, we must give thanks in all things, all our praise and worship to God daily; in church and outside the church.
For this is one of many reasons why Jesus Christ died for, to give us new life, being spiritually alive to Christ and to freely worship God His Father!
Worshipping God is essential in our walk with Jesus Christ our Lord. We worship God in many ways. One way is singing to the Lord; songs of praise and thanksgiving with all our hearts, mind, strength and soul.
Doing What The Holy Bible Says Is Also Worshipping God
But our worship to God is not just limited to this alone. Applying the Holy Bible’s instructions to our daily walk with Him is another way to worship God.
Jesus Christ says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15).” What are His commandments? All of His teachings, which is God’s word.
This is why He taught, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).”
With songs, hymns and spiritual songs, coupled with living the word of truth. This is essentially, worshipping God our Creator and Redeemer in Spirit (with all your heart, mind and soul), and in truth (living the Holy Bible daily).
Another lesson we can learn from the 24 elders, is that we live to praise, worship, adore and glorify the Lord with all our hearts, mind, body and soul. Not just in song, but also in the way we think, talk and walk with our Lord Jesus Christ in sanctification.
Another lesson the Apostle John points out when describing all He saw in the throne room of God, is specifically found in
Revelation 4:4;9-11 (Verse 4) And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting
(Verse 9-11) And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to Him that sat on the throne, Who liveth for ever and ever,
The four and twenty elders fall down before Him that sat on the throne, and worship Him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.
Notice in verse 4, “Round about the throne.” All the elders are always seated close to the very throne of God, where God Most High is literally seated.
This is a vital lesson for us to learn. If you want to be close to God and stay close to Him, we must be true worshippers of God, just like these holy elders of righteousness. And that’s one of many lessons to learn in our walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Another important lesson on the subject of worshipping God, is how to approach Him. Because there is a way to approach God, when we come boldly into the throne room of grace in that time of need.
Jesus Christ Himself points this out, when He was teaching His disciples how to pray in Matthew 6:9-10 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which Art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
The first thing Jesus Christ points out as we approach God in our prayer closet, before we petition God in prayer is, acknowledging the names of God. For He is what His names say. That’s knowing who God is. That’s also praising and extolling God.
The Holy Ghost revealed this to the writer of Psalm 91, the blessing of knowing and acknowledging God Most High’s name,
Psalm 91:14-16 Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation.
So even Jesus Christ points out how important it is as Christians to praise and worship God Most High. Just as these 24 elders are showing us today.
What else is there to learn about worshipping God? Plenty More. The Holy Bible teaches all throughout, the importance of worshipping God. And that’s what these next audio segments will reveal.
Magnify The Lord (ministered @ Grace Community Church in Arroyo Hondo New Mexico on 12/30/18)
Opening Scripture: Psalm 34:1-3 I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Magnify: ‘To extol, glorify: to praise enthusiastically.’
Giving thanks to the Lord, ahead of time for answered prayer, before He answers them while in waiting
Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Hebrews 13:15 By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.
Praise And Worship Is Not The Principle Thing, But Its Vitally Important (ministered @ Grace Community Church in Arroyo Hondo New Mexico on 10/5/16)
Opening Scripture: Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.
When we lack praise and worship that God desires from us, then the presence of God will not come to visit His children the way He desires.
God literally inhabits (dwells) in the praises and in the Worship of His saints. If you want the presence of God in your life and every time we gather in His house we are going to have to create an atmosphere where He can come into.
Revelation 4:2-8 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in Heaven, and One sat on the throne.
And He that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
V:5 Lamps of Fire (Churches): We are going to have to be on fire (zealous) for the Lord like incense burning in earthen vessel into the nostril of God in order to get His attention. Levitical Priest’s had to burn incense before they entered into the Most Holy Place Where God dwells
V:7 4th Living Creature like a flying eagle: If you want to attract the presence of God, we are going to have to mount up like wings as eagles and fly above the storm of the cares of the day.
In order to rise up above the storms of life in order to worshiping God in Spirit and in truth we must cast aside every weight
What’s hold you back? What’s weighing you down?
If you truly want His presence, we are going to have to stir ourselves up in the Lord, cast aside our personalities, our failures and successes, and our feeling and just let go and adore Him for He is God
The Cost To Reach America (ministered @ Grace Community Church in Arroyo Hondo New Mexico on 6/18/17)
Opening Scripture: Psalm 100 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing (Matthew 6:9-11).
Know ye that the LORD He is God: (Hebrews 11:6) it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.
- Singing unto the Lord, adoring God, exalting Him as God like we mean it with all our hearts. Not withholding from God. Getting lost in His presence
