The first Epistle of the Apostle Peter chapter 1 ministers two sermons:
1). Sermon of Trials And Tribulations
2). Sermon of Holiness

God takes His children of the New Covenant through the fire to refine and test us (Zechariah 13:7-9). He didn’t promise born-again children of God a peaceful life throughout our journey here on earth. But He did promise peace within the heart for being right with God as we abide in Jesus Christ(John 16:33), to not be troubled when we are tried, tested and refined.

Real salvation we have in Jesus Christ does not fade away, nor can the world take it away, no matter the hardships we will face because God has given us His Holy Spirit whom also has given us a right heart. And the refiners fire is for our benefit, not for our hurt.

Those who truly submitted themselves under the Lordship of Jesus Christ (the saved and justified through His blood by faith) has given us power and a new desire to live this new life in Him through His Holy Spirit, holy and pleasing to God as a living sacrifice (Romans 12). Therefore holiness is still commanded, 1 Peter 1:15-16 but He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “be holy, for I am holy” thus says the Lord.”

Jesus Christ did not do away the “Moral Law,” He came to fulfill the “Law” as it is written, Matthew 5:17-18 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law (Torah) or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

The “Law” He fulfilled:
The Ceremonial Law (Colossians 2:14-17)
The Priestly Law (Hebrews 4-8)
The Purification & Sacrificial Laws (Hebrews 9-10)

But the Moral Law is summed up in the 10 Commandments written on stone (which cannot be erased or made void. Stone is the symbol of permanence). And it is still in effect and Jesus Christ will judge (John 5:20-23) by the moral law on the day of judgment as it is written, Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Thus holiness is still commanded and required in our walk in the Lord Jesus Christ to make our call and election sure, 2 Peter 1:2-11 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;  for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It is not the responsibility of God to deliver us from sin but rather to deliver us from the bondage and slavery of sin and death. It is a Christians responsibility to repent from all forms of ungodliness and un-holy living and purify ourselves through washing of water by the Word of God (once we have been washed of our past sins in the blood of Jesus Christ) as we continue to follow the Lord Jesus Christ.

We must live right and stay right as the result of having a real relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and stay ready for eternity to come whether by death or by rapture. Because life is not guaranteed the next hour and the Lord can appear in the clouds anytime to take His church (the bride of Christ) into eternity who are right and ready. We are here today and gone tomorrow either way, its our choice, Heaven or Hell
