Our last message was part 1 of how to get encouraged and stay encouraged in a discouraging world, by keeping our eyes on Jesus Christ the Author and Finisher of our faith in the midst of trials, tribulations and storm of life. By reading and study God’s Holy Bible. And staying close to God in prayer and fellowship.

In essence, Christians are to draw close to God and live close to Him on a daily basis, to stay encouraged when we see the world falling appart as people reject Jesus Christ and the cross. Drifting further and further away from the truth.

Part 2 deals with pressing in the ministry God appoints and anoints us to do, no matter the results. Because this too also encourages us in a discouraging world. Telling people about Jesus Christ and all He has done is spiritual food for our soul.

And when the going get’s even tougher, we cannot forget about the rewards that are ahead of us, if we endure to the end of the church age. Because all that we will ever go through on earth, is worth every souls we will ever reach.

Being an effective witness, and watchmen of the earth are people who stay close to the Lord, having daily communion with God. Reading and study the Holy Bible, praying always with all prayers and supplication in the Spirit, teaching people the truth and warnings sinners to repent before it’s to late encourages us in a discouraging world.

The Ministering of God’s Holy Bible

The ministering of God’s Holy Bible keeps us encouraged. Jesus Christ was always encouraged because He was always in the perfect will of God. And when the going got tough, He continued to press in. Because He was always ministering, teaching and preaching God His Father’s word,

John 4:31-34 In the mean while His disciples prayed Him, saying, Master, eat. But He said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought Him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.

Reflecting On Who God Is And What He Has Done

Reflecting on who God is and all He has done and brought you through in your life thus far, also keeps us encouraged in a discouraging world. This is why is it good to store these things in our heats lest we forget. The Apostle Paul instructed the body of Christ in one of his last statements to the church in Philippi

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these.

  • Reflect on His goodness and mercies every morning
  • Reflect on all your prayers He has answered
  • All the times He guided you, ordered your steps
  • Protected you from all harm,
  • Kept you working

God is Sovereign: Supreme ruler, Possessing supreme ultimate power, self sustained.

He is Almighty: Absolute Sovereign; All powerful. There is nothing God cannot do that which is holy, righteous and good.

He is Omniscient: He knows all things. There is nothing that escapes His attention. And there’s comfort in knowing that, when your right with God. Even if satan were to rebel against God’s protection upon you, God will know it in an instant.

  • He knows every hair on your head and know them by number (Luke 12:7)
  • He knows all your where-a-bouts (Psalm 139:1-12)
  • He knows all you’ve been through and what He has allowed in your life (Job 1-2)
  • He knows what you can handle better than you know yourself

When we are going through the darkened storms, trials, testing and deep valleys, and just when you think you can’t take it any more. It is there He will strengthen you and cause you step further where you need to be in His perfect will. He knows what you can handle, because He would never lead you through those places that would destroy you.

And we are to extol Him (Praise God enthusiastically). Not in words only but also by our manner of conversation (in holiness, circumspectly) in our daily walk in Jesus Christ our Lord. Being pleasing unto the Lord in all area’s of life in Christ.

This too is what brings encouragement in a discouraging world, being in the perfect will of God for your life. Because sin brings instant discouragement, disappointment and condemnation. Trying to ultimately Draw you away from God and out of His will.

And if you stay there long enough, it can also shipwreck your faith. This is why we must at all cost, walk carefully before the Lord and stay encouraged. Not doing any of these instructions will also bring discouragement, defeat and loss. It’s your choice.

Reflect On The Eternal Rewards Ahead

And lastly, we also need to reflect regularly on our eternal rewards ahead of us. We cannot lose sight of that either. There is the reason why Jesus Christ our Lord taught,

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

No matter what we go through, either in the seasons of work, trials and testing’s, or blessings and rest, we should never (forget) what’s up ahead of all this. This too encourages us in a discouraging world.

Remember, born-again Christians are just pilgrims, sojourners passing through this world. This world is not our home. It’s a temporary place. Heaven is our real home. So we cannot forget what’s up ahead as the Holy Spirit instructed the body of Christ through the Apostle Paul,

Philippians 3:13-16 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

So here’s what’s up ahead, what we are looking forward to (for those who press in and stay faithful to God in Jesus Christ) who knows God and love’s Him. Trust’s and obeys Him and His instruction. And who’s names are written in the Book of Life, this is what’s coming up ahead for you,

Revelation 21:3-7 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.

Revelation 22:1-7 And He shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall serve Him: And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

And He said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to shew unto His servants the things which must shortly be done. Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this Book.

Revelation 22:12-14 And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
